July - August 2025
The first field campaign of the project was successfully completed in and around the drowned village of Tolsende. Despite challenging tidal conditions, all three partner teams were able to gather crucial baseline data for the coming phases of the research.
- The University of Vienna conducted its first subtidal surveys, using acoustic sediment sonar techniques to map underwater structures near the former village site.
- The CAU Kiel team carried out terrestric magnetometry prospection across the exposed intertidal flats, targeting buried features in the upper layers.
- The Ghent University team flew multiple missions with UAV-mounted magnetometer, capturing high-resolution data on the surface and shallow subsurface structure of the site.

Preliminary results already show promising patterns in the spatial layout of the drowned landscape. The data are currently being integrated and interpreted across teams to prepare for the next steps in the project.
